The CD38 antigen is expressed on plasma cells, on early cells of B and T cell lineages, and on activated B and T cells. 90% of CD34+ cells expressed the CD38 antigen. The antibody is of value for immunophenotyping of acute leukaemias, and in research studies on the role of activated T cells in immunodeficiency diseases and in autoimmune diseases.
